ole in &TV’s new drama Siddhi Vinayak. The show deals with the story of two childhood sweethearts and their journey from hatred to love. While Neha plays a background dancer in the series, Nitin Goswami will be seen in the role of a superstar. In an exclusive chat with indianexpress.com, the pretty actor shared the challenges and excitement around her character, “This is the first time that the life of a background dancer will see prominence. Not many know the struggles that they face and what actually goes in their life as they try building their career. After doing this show, I have started respecting them more. I am also sure that people would now see them in a different light.”
Neha, along with beau Shakti Arora had also participated in Nach Baliye 7. The actor initially had been quite an apprehensive and not so confident dancer on the stage. With this new avatar in force, we asked Neha how she’s fallen in love with the art. “To tell you honestly, it was only after Nach Baliye did I realise how much I enjoyed dancing. When I received appreciation and love for my skills on stage, I wanted to do it more. I took up dance classes and was quite active on that front. I happily lapped up to this offer as I would be getting a lot of chances to dance.”
Neha, who has been part of some wonderful shows like Sajan Ghar Jaana Hai, Tere Liye among others, had been keeping a distance from mainstream shows. When asked what kept her away, the 28-year-old smilingly said, “I haven’t been quite away as I did some really powerful roles in few episodic based shows. As actors, you need to evolve and pull up the barometer of your work with every project. I was waiting for a show that could interest me and challenge me as an actor.”
While Neha is pretty as a picture, what gives an edge to her looks are her hazel tone eyes. The actor though has a different take on it. “Internationally, this shade of eyes is quite popular but in India, people tend to connect light eyed people with only negative shades. I completely disagree with it as the eyes can help you emote but as actors, there’s so much more that we can do,” she added.
Lastly, we asked Neha that though she has had a fruitful career in the industry, she is today popularly known as Shakti’s girlfriend and if she is fine with the same. The intelligent actor, taking a short pause, quipped, “We are a couple and there’s nothing wrong with being identified as each other’s partner but of course I would want people to know me for my work. Shakti’s show Meri Aashiqui Tumse Hi gave him great popularity and I am really proud of him but as an actor, I have my own set of work and identity.”
