Shah Rukh Khan Extends Help To Ailing Indian Boxing Legend Kaur Singh

Shah Rukh Khan has played many roles onscreen and regaled us through decades. And now, he is playing the role of a good Samaritan and setting an inspiring example for others to follow. The star was moved when he read about boxing star from Punjab, Kaur Singh (69), who has been ailing and struggling to pay his medical bills. Following a cardiac arrest, the sport legend had to be admitted to the hospital for immediate treatment and he had been unable to pay the Rs 2 lakh fee. But Shah Rukh’s Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) team came to the rescue and ensured that the fee was paid and Singh got timely discharge. Singh came back home from the hospital on Tuesday morning.
Talking about the same Shah Rukh Khan in a recent statement said, “Sportspersons bring pride to a country and it is our duty to look after them as a society. After reading about Kaur Singh, we as a sporting unit felt the need to stand by our fellow sportsman and urge everyone else to do the same in their own way. We wish Kaur Singh a speedy recovery and a healthy life.” The 1982 Asian Games gold medalist got emotional as he reacted to this intervention. While talking to the media, Singh said, “After receiving such huge support from all over the country, I feel as if I am reliving the glory of the past. I thank everyone who came out and extended help.”
The Chak De India actor said he was not only passionate about cricket but took interest in other sports as well. “We, at Knight Riders, are extremely passionate about sports, which is not necessarily limited to cricket,” he added. The veteran boxer thanked all who have extended help to him. He said, “After receiving such huge support from all over the country, I feel as if I am reliving the glory of the past. I thank everyone who came out and extended help.”
