Video: Mia Khalifa reviews Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk, gets savagely trolled on social media
Christopher Nolan, already considered one of the greatest directors of all time, released his war-epic Dunkirk. The film is about the rescue mission carried out to evacuate the Allied soldiers who were retreating after the invasion of France by Nazi Germany and reached the shores of Dunkirk. While the movie is already being hailed as a masterpiece, there was one Nolan fan who probably did not share the same opinion as the others. And it is none other than porn star Mia Khalifa.
She posted a video on YouTube criticizing the film. However, she did not seem to understand the continuity of the film. In fact, she was also confused if the evacuation ended World War II and complained that there was no context.
She, however, also praised Hans Zimmer’s music, but that still did not go down well with the film’s fans and she was trolled mercilessly on social media.
“For the longest time, I couldn’t tell if they were panning (sic) between the Allies and the Nazis. I couldn’t tell who was who,” she continued.
The Nazis are never mentioned in the movie - they’re simply called the ‘enemy’ on one occasion - and on the two occasions that they are seen, they are in the shadows or out of focus.
Mia also had trouble understanding the characters’ accents. Her friend pointed out that one time, she thought a character was German because she couldn’t understand what he was saying.
The film is exclusively told from a British perspective.
She then commented on how the IMAX cameras were “wasted” on the movie, and how the “CGI water and beaches” made everything look bigger.
In fact, Nolan’s film witnessed the widest 70mm release in decades, and was shot on location at Dunkirk, and the English Channel. They also refabricated real World War II Spitfires, destroyers, and some of the civilian boats that made the crossing that day. So, no CGI.
She does, however, end the video by giving the film a 7/10.
Dunkirk currently sits at 93% on the review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes. It opened to over $100 million in its first weekend.
