Vidya Balan on No Filter Neha: Just before a kissing scene, Emraan Hashmi would say something ridiculous

From talking about giving up her love interest for her sister to her being petrified with co-actor Naseeruddin Shah, Vidya Balan talked about a lot of things. And for Neha Dhupia, Vidya was born with no filter which made the audio show much fun.

Neha Dhupia and Vidya Balan have worked together in Tumhari Sulu and since then the two actors share a great camaraderie. So when Vidya went on Neha’s talk show, No Filter Neha, she got into the most candid conversation ever. From talking about giving up her love interest for her sister to her being petrified with co-actor Naseeruddin Shah, Vidya talked about a lot of things. And for Neha, Vidya was born with no filter which made the audio show much fun.
Here are some of the confessions made by Vidya Balan on No Filter Neha:
1. Sacrificing her love interest for her sister
“You know I felt I was a sacrificial martyr because the moment I got to know that he actually liked my sister and they have started dating, I thought shayad yeh mera jija baan sakta hain (maybe he can become my brother-in-law)” So I just decided to give up my love.”
2. On being called Vidya Balan Khan for delivering many hits
“When people called me that I just turned around and said I am a Balan and you can call me that only. And after a while, I started feeling that if people consider me a Khan, why are they not coming out in the theatres.”
3. The excitement of recreating “Hawa Hawaai” in Tumhari Sulu
“I am a big fan of Sridevi. We had so much fun working on it. It was like a dream come true for me. When director, Suresh Triveni told me we have decided to recreate “Hawa Hawaai”, I took a moment to realise that he is talking about the iconic “Hawa Hawaai” with the iconic Sridevi. I told him no that can’t happen as you don’t touch these things with a barge pole but then he explained to me that you don’t have to do another Sridevi but this would be a tribute to her.”
4. Vidya Balan’s addiction to paint and turpentine
The things Vidya likes to inhale on a film are paint and turpentine. “Wherever I smell paint or turpentine, I ask people to get me a little bit of it and I keep inhaling it. And people have told me it’s an addiction and I’m like no it’s not an addiction but ya it is addictive and I love it,” said Vidya.
5. Vidya Balan revealed Arshad Warsi’s cheat meal during the shoot of Ishqiya
“During the shoot of Ishqiya, Arshad was obsessed with being fit. He would wake up at some 4:30 in the morning and I’d hear him walk the treadmill. Lunch he’d have tinned tuna or salmon and I would get my lunch from a hole in the wall Maharashtrian restaurant called Bandu Gore. Roti, sabzi and lovely raita. My team and I used to have that for lunch and dinner. Invariably, I would skip dinner. I would have fruits or something and at around 8-8:30 I would get a call from Arshad saying khana kha liya? I’d be like nahi, khane wali hu but soch rahi hu nahi khau. He’d be like nahi nahi suno kisi ko dena mat, main aa raha hu and he’d come and polish off the food.”
6. Vidya Balan’s onscreen kissing experiences
Vidya and Madhavan kissed in Guru but she remembers nothing about kissing him as it was raining heavily and she was in the wheelchair. About kissing Arshad in Ishqiya she says, “Arshad’s very good but Emraan Hashmi just before the scene, will say something really ridiculous to you. On Ghanchakkar, he kept telling me – so what do you think Siddharth’s going to say after watching the scene? You think I’ll get my last cheque? And I’d be like why? He’s like, after Siddharth watches this and I’d be like why do you have to do this before every take.”
7. One actor Vidya Balan wants to work with
Vidya confesses wanting to work with Ranbir Kapoor as he is such a good actor.
8. Vidya Balan on her plans of having kids
Vidya has no plans to have kids for now. She says, “We have our hands quite full and more than anything else it’s great to spend time with kids you’re not responsible for.”
9. To whom will Vidya give best fake laugh award
“Rani Mukherjee.”
10. Vidya being petrified of Naseeruddin Shah
“The reason Arshad and I got along so well is because I was petrified of Naseer Saab. I remember the first day, first scene, the cinematographer was lighting and he must’ve asked Naseer Saab to move a couple of times and Naseer Saab snapped at him,” narrated Vidya.
