In an unfortunate turn of events in Surat, Gujarat, artist Karan K’s spectacular rangoli of Padmavati was destroyed by a group of 100 people shouting ‘Jai Shree Ram’. Karan took an inspiration from the trailer and teasers of the film and created a beautiful rangoli of Deepika Padukone’s character, Rani Padmini. He was creating the beautiful art work ahead of Diwali. However, his hours of hard work went down the drain in a matter of few seconds.
Reacting on the same, Deepika wrote that all of these actions and aggression against the film, for no reason, has to stop.
The actor tweeted, “Absolutely heart breaking to see the recent attack on artist Karan and his artwork! Disgusting and appalling to say the least! Who are these people? Who is responsible for their actions? For how long are we going to let this go on? allow them to take law into their own hands & attack our freedom & right to individual expression time & again!? this has to stop NOW & action must be taken!@smritiirani.”
Earlier, Padmavati director Sanjay Leela Bhansali was attacked in Jaipur and later, the film’s sets were vandalised and set on fire in Kolhapur.
This is for the third time that Deepika Padukone is working with Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The actor and director have worked together in 2015 blockbuster Bajirao Mastani and Goliyon Ki Raas Leela Ram Leela. Apart from Deepika, the film stars Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor as Allaudin Khilji and Raja Ratan Singh, respectively.
