An Innovative Smart Baby Monitor By Three Indian Women
Aardra Kannan Ambili, Ranjana Nair, and Sanchi Poovaya, visited their friend’s two years ago, she recently had a premature baby and all three were completely shocked to see the tiny baby covered with a number of electronic devices. The worried parents were putting their hands on the baby’s chest to track her breathing at regular intervals. Respiratory trackers made for infants are normally battery-powered sensors which required meant to be hooked on to the baby’s body, this was the major concern among parents. This is was the point from where these three engineering graduates got an idea to build a sleep software and non-contact respiration and thus, ‘Raybaby’ was invented looks like a normal baby monitor (but ensures there is no direct skin contact or interfering wires).
Raybaby, a smart baby monitor, was invented by Ray IoT Solutions, founded by three woman engineers and scientists, a startup founded in the year 2015. before anything else, friends. While talking to The News Minute Ranjana said, regarded her ‘perfect team’. She further stated that were the perfect team to invent and create a smart and original baby monitor, it was not because one of our team members is Masters in Mechanical Engineering from Cornell or another has published research papers on artificial intelligence in University of Georgia. They were the perfect team because of the reason they were the highly qualified babysitters (a person who looks after children while their parents are out) for our friends and family for the last 10 years.
Raybaby helps in maintaining the baby’s comfort and hygiene and Raybaby uses ultra wide band radar technology, similar ultrasounds. The monitor detects every movement of an infant as a millimetre within a range of 5m, even if an infant is covered with a blanket. Raybaby app the information about the child’s respiratory rate and his/her different sleep states and also alerts slight change which might indicate fever, moreover weekly graphs are created for a pediatrician for regular checkups.

According to The News Minute, Ranjana told, Raybaby is the first company in India to have an investment from a hardware startup investor, HAX, of Rs. 1.07 crore and also to get support from the Johnson and Johnson. For HAX program, they moved to Shenzhen, China in September in the year 2016. This product will have a wide market scope at the future and its market price is expected to be $250 and priced at $129 as part of a launch campaign.
