Huma Saleem Qureshi better known as Huma Qureshi is an Indian actress and model from Bollywood. Huma was born on 28th July of the year 1986 in a Muslim family; her father Saleem Qureshi is a restaurateur and mother Ameena Qureshi is a housewife. She is known to be sharing the screen with many stars like Akshay Kumar, Shah Rukh khan, Amir khan and so on.
Huma Qureshi’s early life
Born in a normal Muslim family Humma had 3 brothers growing up; among whom the Bollywood actor and model Saqib Saleem is one. The family migrated from New Delhi to Kalkaji when she was just a child.Huma completed her bachelor’s degree in History Honours from Gargi College- University of Delhi; However, later on, she went to join Act 1 theater group and performed in a few theatrical productions. In addition to this, she has also worked for a few number of NGOs.
Huma Qureshi’s Career
It wasn’t until the year 2008 that she moved to Mumbai to venture out on her own with dreams to get in the movie business. But all in vain as the Movie “Junction” that she came to Mumbai for was never made. However, Huma got a two-year contract with Hindustan Unilever to appear in Television commercials; under which she promoted a wide range of products.
The deal along with Hindustan Unilever also introduced her to stars like Shahrukh Khan and Amir Khan. However, it was her acting ability which she showed during the shooting for Samsung Mobile commercial that impressed Bollywood’s famous director Anurag Kashyap; through which she signed a three movie deal.
Career in Bollywood
Initially, Qureshi was planned to make her entry in the Bollywood industry through her film debut “Billa II”. The movie was delayed which led her to back off as she had other works scheduled. However, with Anurag Kashyap’s deal for a three movie; Qureshi debuted her career in Bollywood through “Gangs Of Wasseypur- Part1”. The movie was an immense success and her role and acting were also well appreciated by many. The sequel of the movie “Gangs Of Wasseypur- Part2” was soon released in 2014 with Qureshi securing her role from the prequel.After two initial consecutive successful movies in her career, her third movie was “Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana“. The movie was financially successful but however, it was not as successful as her previous movies.
In addition to these movies, some of her other movies are “D-Day”, “Dedh Ishqiya”, “Badlapur”, “Highway”, “X: Past is Present” and “Jolly LLB 2”; where she acted along with stars like Irfan Khan, Rishi Kapoor, Shruti Hassan, Madhuri Dixit, Arshad Warsi, Akshay Kumar and so on.
The movie Jolly LLB 2 is the second most revenue collecting movie of the year 2017 worldwide till date.
With her career in Bollywood, she has won hearts of millions of fans and her fame is certainly on the rise.
